Woodard's Todai Dojo is one of the elite martial arts schools in the Bujinkan. The Bujinkan is a network of Ninjutsu schools headed by Grandmaster Masaaki Hatsumi in Japan.
Ninjutsu is the art made famous by Japan's shadow warrior – the ninja. In the 1980s "Ninja boom" many so-called qualified instructors appeared. However, it is only those few elite martial arts schools that have received training directly from Soke Hatsumi and have the authority to pass on the training.
Our chief Instructor, Shihan Matthew Woodard is one of the qualified few. He has trained for over 35 years in the martial arts with the last 23 years directly in the Bujinkan. Incidentally, Grandmaster Hatsumi commented in 2008, "Matt-san [Shihan Woodard] is the best teacher in the U.S."
